La Plana is the mother land and source of III Lustros, Celler Batlle and now, La Enoteca. Four hectares of Xarel·lo grow in this area, accompanied by a hectare of Macabeo. They grow on clay soils with a sandy substratum over limestone rock. Bounded to the east by the River Noia, to the north, the vineyards are open to the air currents from the valley which runs down from the mountains. To the south they are exposed to the sun, which follows the path of the river while, to the west, a hill of pine trees dominates, its shadow protecting the vineyards in the afternoons. The land is worked with the same meticulous care that it has received for the last 150 years.
Aged in bottles stored on their sides for 160 months, which represents the ultimate expression of aging "sur lattes". 100% artisanal process. The bottles are sealed with a cork stopper throughout the time they spend resting in the silence of the cellars, which enables the longest ageing periods. We use “pupitre” racks, and riddling and disgorging are carried out by hand. This is our Brut tribute to sparkling wine which brings pleasure and exalts the senses. It is created by using the exclusive dosage liqueur which Gramona makes with wines from its solera, which is well over a century old. Medium dosage of 6 grams/litre.
Appearance: Golden with intense gold tones.
On the nose: It shows great expressiveness and depth right from the start. Honeyed notes accompany the fruit (baked apple, plums, apricots). Floral touches (almond blossom). Distinct ageing character (toast, hazelnuts, nougat, marzipan, cocoa, toffee, coffee). Aromas of undergrowth, dead leaves and mushrooms. Mature notes add complexity - apricots, faded flowers, candied orange peel.
On the palate: Pleasant and very full on entry. Smooth across the palate, with opulent, seductive body. Velvety textured carbon dioxide. A slightly bitter note blends with the powerful acidity of an infinite wine.
This cava will be enjoyed with the most exquisite dishes. It is good with all types of food and recipes and is an ideal accompaniment throughout an entire "tasting menu". But of course, good company and great occasions are what suit it best. To enhance the beauty of this cava, we suggest you serve it between10- 12º C in a large balloon wine glass to help it aerate and express its aromas to the full. Enoteca Gramona is released on the market ready to be enjoyed now or, if stored in the right conditions, in a few years' time.
